Girl mocks men who asked her “Make Me A Sandwich” by going on polar expedition
A teen adventurer has recently returned from her 37 days journey to the South Pole. She is now the youngest person to complete the polar adventure hattrick. She has not only expedited North and South poles but has also crossed Greenland. It is quite a news of excitement for everyone to learn that this girl, when she was merely 14-year-old, became the youngest person to go on an expedition to the North Pole from outside the last degree of it.
I’m not really fussed about the records as much as they’re cool to have, For me it’s just the experience and the environment that no-one else really gets to see. – said Jade Hameister, the 16yo girl.
Now the girl has returned so a lot of news agencies are busy taking her interviews. In one of her interviews, she told media that the biggest trouble is just yet to begin, referring to her school. The girl believes that it will be quite hard for her to sit in the school and wait for time to happen.
No what is the deal with sandwich?
In 2016 Ms Jade appeared on a TEDx talk in Melbourne. The entire topic of this talk was to empower women and help them forget any social pressure at hand.
The girl wanted to give them a lesson in order to let them think adventurously.
What if young women around the world were encouraged to be more, rather than less?, What if the focus shifted from how we appear, to the possibilities of what we can do? – The girl said during the TEDx event’s Talk
Among the audience was certain men who started trolling the girl by telling her ‘make me a sandwich,’ which is a phrase used by internet trolls to tell women that they belong in the kitchen. The girl somehow took the troll seriously and when she went on a tropical expedition she posted this on her Facebook with the caption, “I made you a sandwich (ham & cheese), now ski 37 days and 600 kilometres to the South Pole and you can eat it.”
A lot of the time when you’re struggling you try to just zone out, I think, and make time go as fast as it can. I think when you’re really struggling there’s a lot of negative messages that your head is telling you and that can make it really hard. – girl shared her experience
She further added that she learned how to deal with pain and fatigue.
